It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It is hard for their hitters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
